Veterinary Technician & Assistant Programs in Alabama
Coastal Alabama Community College- Bay Minette, AL
Coastal Alabama Community College (CACC) offers a Hybrid On-line full-time five semester curriculum that combines course work completion via the on-line learning platform, Canvas, with hands-on clinical skills training at an approved veterinary facility in Mobile or Baldwin County. The clinical skills component requires the student to work/volunteer a certain number of hours each week at an approved veterinary facility during the semester. The number of clinical skills hours per week changes with each semester. This hybrid design provides the student with extensive workforce experience that traditional seated programs do not offer. This Hybrid Program requires each accepted student to have access to a computer equipped with a webcam connected to a reliable internet and a printer. Students are required to report to the Bay Minette campus for orientation on the first day of each semester, midterm exams and final exams. The program offers various hands-on skills labs that are optional but encouraged.

Jefferson State Community College- Birmingham, AL
The Veterinary Technology Program at Jefferson State is a distance education program. The theory classes are taught online and the clinical tasks are conducted in approved veterinary hospitals and/or facilities in which the student works or volunteers. Upon successful completion of the prescribed course of study, students are awarded the Associate Degree in Applied Science (A.A.S.) and upon passing both national and state board exams, licensure can be granted. The college has been granted accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). We are looking for interested, hardworking and enthusiastic men and women who can dedicate themselves to veterinary medicine.

NAVTA Approved Veterinary Assistant Programs
Ross Medical Education Center- Huntsville, AL
The Veterinary Assistant program at Ross Medical Education Center can be completed in just 36 weeks. Students will be instructed to function as an assistant to a Veterinarian and/or Veterinary Technician with an understanding of veterinary ethics and law, animal anatomy and physiology, terminology, animal care activities, and technology and equipment used. Experienced instructors will give direction on software used, medical records and documentation, and administrative/clerical procedures and duties. A graduate of this program should be prepared to work in an entry-level position in an animal clinic or hospital.
